With 4 million animals euthanized each year in American animal shelters
the job of finding homes for homeless animals must be one of the
toughest around. Animal non-profit organizations are more and more
utilizing social networking in order to spread the word about available
animals looking for new families.
For non-profits who rely on
their members or donors who contribute dollars that keep their doors
open, a page on Facebook is a wonderful way these organizations can
stay in touch, provide updates and receive comments and
questions. The pages are stocked with information, photos and
videos that give donors a way to stay connected and to remind them why
they support these organizations with their hard earned money.
Dottie was recently adopted from CAPE
The Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE),
a non-profit animal protection organization in Santa Cruz recently
created a group page on Facebook. Their goal is to raise
awareness of the animals they rescue and to place these animals into
new homes.
JP Novic, Executive Director of CAPE says, "Our
adoptions have slowed a bit these past few months. We
realized that it was time to participate in social networking to help
inform the public of animals rescued by CAPE who are looking for their
forever home."
You can join these local organizations group
pages on Facebook: Peninsula Humane Society, San Francisco SPCA,
Marin Humane Society and the East Bay SPCA.
