Oprah and staff to go vegan for one week

by Katerina Lorenzatos Makris

Talk show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey along with 378 of her staffers have pledged to give up eating animal products for one week beginning February 1, according to a post on her website.

“The challenge is on!” announces the teaser. “No meat, no milk, no animal anything… Could you do it? “

To kick off “The Vegan Challenge,” Tuesday’s Oprah show will feature appearances by authors Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma), and Kathy Freston (Veganist: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, Change the World), as well as a visit to a beef processing plant by investigative reporter Lisa Ling.
