Duct-taped and dumped, puppy couldn’t even cry out for help
by Katerina Lorenzatos Makris

Duct tape seems to be a trendy tool for dealing with animals these days. A number of recent cases offer images of dogs and cats tied up with the strong and super-adhesive binding as a solution to various problems.

Dog chewing your stuff? No worries. Wrap his head in duct tape, leaving only his nostrils exposed—hey, aren’t you kindhearted?—and lock him in the laundry room.

In the mood to torture an animal? Easy. First duct tape her snout so she can't defend herself, then her legs so she can't run away.

Just plain don’t want your pooch anymore?  No sweat. Encircle his eyes, ears, and snout with that handy tape so that he can’t even cry out for help, break one of his limbs for good measure, and toss him in the trash.

Brady survived duct tape dumping, needs donations to repair broken leg Photo: Texas Little Cuties
That’s what happened to a 14-week-old puppy named Brady.

Animal Beat received the following information about the little pit bull in an email from rescuer Christina Peyton.

“Here are photos of Brady. He was found mid-Saturday in the Texas heat literally dumped in a dumpster in Dallas. He had duct tape on his eyes, ears, and whole snout. He was unable to cry out for help.

“A neighbor of mine noticed him and ran to get me for help. We could tell his leg was broken badly. He had webbed feet from standing in a wire cage and urine-stained feet and nails. He had an awful rash and bites everywhere.

“Brady was so sweet though, as he gulped water and just wanted to give kisses.

"I transferred him to Melissa with Texas Little Cuties and he has been cared for and x-rayed. He will receive a leg operation on Monday to get him back up and running. He will need pins and it will take a over a month to heal but then we will be able to find him the perfect home!!!

"I volunteer with animal rescue groups and this is one of the saddest things I have ever seen!

"I would love it if people would glance in the trash every time just in case. Who knows how many lives that could save?!"

From Brady’s ChipIn page:

“Hi, I am Brady, I am 14 weeks old. I was found on the Tollway and Frankford in Dallas. I was in the dumpster with my eyes, ears, mouth and nose [wrapped] in duct tape.

“I have been to 380 West Animal Hospital and had x-rays, I have a broken shin that needs repair ASAP. I am going to have pins put in so my bones will grow back together. I can't wait. I am ready to play on all fours. I have use of three of my legs, but the other just hangs because of the pain.

"Please help me so I can play with all my friends. Thanks for all your help and support while I recover. Thanks to Texas Little Cuties for fostering me. All donations are tax deductible. You can use ChipIn or donate directly to 380 West Animal Hospital at (214) 544-7881. [Ask for Melissa.]
